Demonstrating the link between calcium, boron and plant health. Demonstrates how the method of soil test interpretation is critical to achieving outcomes from soil test data. Shows up one of the many flaws in conventional soil science and how the work of Dr William Albrecht (Method 3) was used by Vaclav Petrik Senior to develop the unique Petrik nutrient balance system.
Phosphorus Availability In 1985 a Ph.D. study in Tunisia verified the phosphorus releasing benefits of Petrik Biology. This was done using a product then called Biotron. This has continued to evolve and is now sold as Petrik Digestor. The paper is 59 pages long and covers much of the background chemistry. If you are time challenged, for the trial results showing how phosphorus availability is increased skip to page 54. If you wish to look at the fundamental chemistry of phosphorus tie up read page 11-12. We have seen releases of significant amounts of phosphorus in our work. With multiple applications of Digestor and the application of fresh organic matter synthetic P applications have been eliminated on many of our clients farms.
Sap Testing Some of our earlier work prior to our introduction to the Petrik system. The paper is quite useful in showing the importance of maintaining small frequent nitrogen applications when operating under a chemical system. Nitrogen increased in the sap for 10-14 days following fertiliser application. To avoid nitrogen peaks and troughs the input must be consistent. With the wisdom of hindsight we can draw further conclusions from this earlier work. Site 3 was a relatively new property only a few seasons away from pasture history.
Nitrogen levels at this site never fell below critical levels even though nutrient input here was lowest. This is due to the farm maintaining stable humus with nitrogen fixation and cycling one of the many benefits. We have moved away from sap testing as a tool as we found very poor correlation between sap and leaf tests for most elements. Nitrogen and chloride were 2 exceptions. With rapid leaf test turn around and a lack of data to verify sap nutrient critical limits we have not continued with sap testing at the current time.
Petrik Approach More information on the Petrik system from Vaclav Petrik Junior. The differences between the Petrik approach and conventional agriculture. Where conventional agriculture went wrong. Justus von Liebig did amazing work in 1855 though he was limited by the resources at the time. What did he get right? How conventional agriculture partitioned von Liebig’s work, the very important sections left behind. The fundamental relationships between the soil physics, soil chemistry and soil biology, which enable the Petrik system to give insights not available in other less comprehensive systems.
TGS in the Media TGS are proud to share the data and information that they have gathered. One of the ways in which this information is disseminated is through media releases.
Negative Press TGS are very excited about their recent negative press. That chemical companies are actively campaigning against our work is wonderful validation of our real success in the field and its impact on conventional control providers. We have been anticipating this reaction for several years and anticipate further reactions with more widespread success.
